What you actually get: size, shape, and file type
A Threads avatar is displayed as a small circle — a crop of a square image. The square behind it is what this tool returns: a 640×640 JPEG, uncropped, with the corners the circular mask hides still intact. That's why the download often looks different from what you saw on the profile: you're seeing the whole picture for the first time. If an account has never set a picture, Threads serves its default grey avatar, and that's what comes back.

Where the profile picture saves on iPhone, Android, and PC
On iPhone, Safari puts the file in Files → Downloads; press and hold the preview and choose Add to Photos if you'd rather have it in the camera roll. On Android, Chrome saves to the Downloads folder and the image usually shows up in Gallery or Google Photos within a minute. On Windows and macOS it goes to your browser's download folder. The file is named after the account — zuck-1.jpg, for example — so it's easy to find again later.
Why won't a Threads profile picture download?
Four things account for nearly every failure. The account is private, so its picture isn't publicly served. The handle is misspelled or has changed — Threads usernames can be edited, and the old one stops resolving. The account was deleted or deactivated. Or the image link expired: Threads CDN URLs are time-limited, so if you left the preview open for a while, run the lookup again for a fresh one. If none of those apply, reload the page and retry once — a single upstream hiccup is usually all it is.

Can I download someone's Threads DP without an account?+
Yes. There's no sign-in on this site and you don't need a Threads account of your own — you only paste a public profile link. It's the highest resolution Threads makes public: a 640×640 JPEG. That is the original as far as anyone outside the account can reach — Threads re-encodes avatars on upload and never serves the raw file the owner picked, so no tool can return something larger. What you avoid here is a second round of quality loss: you get that 640×640 file directly, rather than a screenshot, crop, or upscale of the small circle.
Do I need a link, or can I just type the @username?+
Either works. You can paste a full profile URL, a threads.net or threads.com link, or simply type the @username (or the handle without the @). We normalize it and fetch that account's current profile picture.
Why can't I see the full avatar inside Threads itself?+
Threads only renders the DP as a small circular thumbnail with no tap-to-enlarge and no save option. This downloader returns the uncropped, full-resolution image so you can actually see and keep the original avatar.
Can I download a private account's profile picture?+
No. Only public profiles work. If an account is private, its DP isn't publicly available and we don't bypass that.
