Threads Video Thumbnail Downloader
Grab the cover image of a Threads video — the still frame shown before it plays — as a full-resolution JPG. Paste the post link and download just the thumbnail.
Processing passes through our server, but no files, links, or logs are ever stored — media streams straight from Threads to your device.
Why ThreadSave?
Just the cover, not the video
This tool pulls only the still cover frame of a Threads video as an image, so you get a clean JPG thumbnail instead of the whole clip.
Full stored resolution
The cover downloads at the size Threads keeps it, not a compressed screenshot — sharp enough to reuse as a preview or reference.
No login, nothing stored
No sign-in and no notification to the poster. We pass the cover frame straight through and keep nothing on our servers.

What is Threads — and why you need a downloader
Every Threads video has a cover image — the still frame you see before it plays — but Threads gives you no way to save just that frame. Screen-recording grabs the whole video, and a screenshot is a cropped, re-compressed copy. A Threads thumbnail downloader pulls the actual cover image the post stores, so you keep a clean, full-resolution JPG of the video's cover instead of a lossy grab.
Want the video itself? Use the Threads video downloader. For photos in a post, try the Threads photo downloader, or grab a whole carousel of images.
What exactly is a Threads video thumbnail?
A thumbnail is the single still frame Threads shows as a video's cover before it plays — usually the first frame or one the creator picked. It is stored as its own image file alongside the video, which is why we can hand you the cover on its own without the clip. It downloads as a JPG at the resolution Threads keeps.
If you actually want the moving clip, use the video downloader — it saves the full MP4 with sound.
Where does the thumbnail save on iPhone, Android, and PC?
On iPhone, Download saves the JPG to Files → Downloads; Share → Save Image then adds it to Photos. On Android it lands in the Downloads folder and shows in Gallery. On desktop, use the download button or right-click the preview and choose "Save image as…" to name it and pick a folder.
Why won't a Threads thumbnail download?
The usual reasons are the same as for any Threads media: the account is private, the post was deleted, the link is mistyped, or the stored image URL expired (Threads CDN links are time-limited). Re-copy the post link fresh from Threads and try again, and pause any ad-block or privacy extensions that can block the image stream.

Frequently asked questions
How do I download a Threads video thumbnail?+
Copy the post link (share icon → Copy link), paste it above, and press Download. The cover image appears with a download button — tap it and the thumbnail JPG saves to your device.
Is the thumbnail full quality?+
It downloads at the resolution Threads stores for the cover frame, which is far sharper than a screenshot of the paused video. It is the actual cover image file, not a re-compressed screen grab.
Can I get the thumbnail of a photo post?+
This tool is built for video covers. For a photo post, use the Threads photo downloader instead, which saves each image at full resolution.
Do I need to log in or give a password?+
No. You never log in and we never ask for a password or any account access. You only paste a public link — that's the entire interaction.
Do I need to install any software or an app?+
No. This is a web tool that runs entirely in your browser. There's nothing to download or install, and it works the same on a phone, tablet, or computer.
Is it really free?+
Yes, completely free with no limit on how many downloads you can make. There's no account, no subscription, and no watermark added to your files.
Is it safe, and do you collect my data?+
Processing passes through our server so we can reach Threads, but we don't store your links, the media, or any logs, and we never ask you to sign in. Nothing about what you download is saved, tracked, or shared.
Can I download from a private Threads account?+
No. This only works with public posts and profiles — the same content anyone can see in a browser without logging in. Private accounts are protected by Threads and we don't bypass that.
Is there a watermark on the files?+
No. You get the original file exactly as Threads serves it — no logo and no quality loss from us.
